Governance, Risk & Trust
Why governance is becoming the moat, not the blocker.
The Position
Organizations treat AI governance as overhead. The data suggests it's the opposite. Teams with mature governance achieve 70-75% positive project outcomes versus 50-55% without it. Trust is the dominant design problem in AI, and every layer of the product — from data handling to output verification — determines whether users can rely on what AI tells them.
Key insights across episodes in this theme:
- Governance enables speed, not slows it. The teams with the best guardrails ship fastest because they don't have to stop and rebuild trust after every incident.
- Trust is a design problem, not a policy problem. Users make trust decisions at the interface level. Policy documents in a drawer don't help.
- The cognitive sovereignty question. What accountability should AI product builders have for the impact on users' thinking, identity, and professional judgment?

- Right to a Future Tense — The EU human rights principle cognitive sovereignty extends (Introduced S02E05)
